Dinner with a Local Family in Fes, Fes

Lovely family with wonderful food and beautiful guitar playing by our sons host 😀

This was so cool. It’s a real look into the daily lives of real people. They welcomed us like we were family. Prepared a great meal. They talked and joked with us. Answered and asked all sorts of questions. It was a real treat meeting this family.

This was the perfect activity for our first night in Marrakech. Dinner was absolutely delicious and our kids enjoyed the chance to talk with the young son of the family who prepared our meal.

We ended up visiting a family in Marrakech outskirts instead of Fez because the Fez family cancelled on us last minute.

The family we visited was super nice. We had cookies in their backyard and they showed us how they cooked the food and we had dinner at the living rooms. The food was super home made and tasty.

I wish I get to hang out more with the ladies of the house more but they mostly stayed in the kitchen only and didn’t eat with us.

The dinner at the Moroccan home was okay. The family was hospitable, and the food was fine, but the experience felt a bit awkward. It was interesting but not something I would want to repeat multiple times.

The family was lovely, so I don't want this review to take away at all from them. However, KimKim made it sound like our family would be eating and spending time with another family (and we were told that they had two young kids around the same ages as ours). However, what we actually got was a family with a 19 yro, and we were really "served" food by the family, not really chatting or spending much time together. To be honest, this felt pretty weird being served by a Moroccan family...we had really wanted to spend time with them instead. The food though was delicious!

Do this experience! Spending time with the family was so special. We ate and talked and asked so many questions and wore kaftans and danced. Very memorable.

We were very excited to be invited to a Moroccan home, especially because it was during Ramadan so we got to have Iftar with the family. Our driver, Reda, also attended with us because the family that hosted us did not speak English. The food was amazing and plentiful. We ate so much that we skipped breakfast the next day! Our host, Said, and his family were welcoming and hospitable and their home inside the Medina was beautiful. This was a great educational, culinary, cultural experience.

Visiting Moroccan homes was one of the highlights of the trip. You really get the taste of the culture, and we tried dishes that you couldn't try anywhere else.

This was a terrific experience. Being welcomed into a local family's house was an honor. After the family warmed up to us (and we to them), the visit was fun. We were joking and laughing. Couldn't have been better.
