Travel truly opens our eyes to so much. To me, it is one of the most important experiences a person can have. From learning about different cultures, seeing incredible sights and meeting new people to trying delicious local foods.

"Creating Tailor-Made journeys around The United Kingdom, Ireland and France. "

How did you get involved in travel?

"I have been incredibly lucky to have travelled from an early age and experience many things which have sparked a long lasting travel bug within. Having this passion for travel and wanting to share my experiences, I knew that a career within the travel industry was a step in the right direction for myself. I want to share my knowledge of this amazing part of the world and create great tailor made trips for my clients to give them a trip of a lifetime, that will leave lasting memories long after they return home."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"Despite having explored incredible parts of Europe and afar, the one part of the world that has truly captured my heart is closer to home, the wonderful UK. I always tend to have my walking boots on and my camera in hand, making our National Parks one of my favourite areas to explore especially the breathtaking Lake District. Or wandering around romantic English villages in the Cotswolds after enjoying a British afternoon tea. Being able to call Pembrokeshire home means I am able to spend most of my time adventuring along the glorious coastal path or hiking rugged mountains in the Brecon Beacons and North Wales, while trying delicious hearty meals along the way."

The only disappointing hotel was the Galmont in Galway. A very very loud party with loud music made it impossible to sleep until the party ended around 1 am. It was a hotel that needs updating (bathroom flooded when you took a shower, paint peeling etc—not a place we would return ).

Highlights were definitely the amazing Wilder and Monks. Both of these spots were absolutely awesome.

Other than the Galmont we appreciated the recommendations from Kimkim.

First the good parts— 1. The breakfast was good and appreciated. 2. The location is outstanding right near the city center!!! Now the concerns 1. A party very loud kept us awake until 12:30. We complained and they said “we will make a note of your concern” and then never did anything. It was loud booming music. The sound proofing was nonexistent. 2. The rooms are very run down and in need of new carpet and paint and not a great smell in the rooms. 3. The bathroom flooded every time you took a shower. Overall (sadly) despite the great location, it was fine but certainly not somewhere we would return.

We enjoyed the planned events and having the flexibility to just take a rest day when needed. The Wilder Hotel was a great way to start the trip and the walking tour of Dublin with Mary McCarty was a wonderful way to spend our first day in Ireland. The train ride to Galway was relaxing and smooth. Bit of a hiccup with the local taxi driver and the directions for finding the taxi pickup but we weathered through and enjoyed Galway.

Picked up the rental car from Europecar in Galway and headed to Connemarra and Kylemore Abbey, the car completely went dead and as our good karma would have it we were able to limp the car off the rural road into the town of Oughterard. Nic was on call for Routescapes and let me tell you, he saved our minds! Took about three hours for the mechanic to come, but we got it sorted and picked up a another rental the following morning.

The Cliffs of Moher was stunning and the ride to Monks Ballyvaughan was stunning and what a gem that spot is! The driving was beautiful and lovey stops along the way. The Ring of Kerry was a bit rainy but by the time we got to the Ladies View, sun came out and we were treated to double rainbows! Kenmare was great spot and we took a total rest day there and shopped and relaxed.

Molly Gallivan's experience was a real treat, the husband and wife who operate that are top shelf! We would recommend that little stop to anyone who is close to Kenmare. Cork was a bit busy for our liking, but now we know, the hotel was brilliant. And the final night at the Kilkea Castle was spot on! We took time to walk the grounds and relax in the therapy pools.

There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe our experience in building our adventure in the country of England with KimKim. From building of the itinerary and activities to actually traveling the itinerary all was flawless, fabulous and fun.

Through the Kimkim platform we were paired with Megan Lloyd. Megan took the time to have a phone call with us to suss out more details about us, what type of experience we desired, interests, hobbies, etc. This interaction was special and I believe truly helped create a very tailored and unique experience. It also further allowed Megan and her team to make additional suggestions and changes to our itinerary including experiences and places we had not considered. The best example of this is the inclusion of a visit up to the Lakes District including the Yorkshire Dales and how to fit in Hadrian's Wall. We had not given this consideration at the start. In hindsight, this was brilliant! We would not have changed a thing with our itinerary, other than wishing we had more days as ultimately none of our stays was long enough! (We spend approximately 5 weeks in England.)

We requested and had many day trips with guides. Again, we were paired via Megan and her team with wonderful, personable guides. This allowed us to make a home base in a city and take various day trips to other places, sights and villages in the area. More importantly, it provided us with a local expert who could also help educate us on the culture, guide us on further reading or places to explore and provide tips on where to dine. We loved each and every one of them.

The good news is we like to travel and London is a direct flight for us from Phoenix. As a result of the help and incredible details put together and waiting for us upon check in at our first city stop in London by Megan, we have a new favorite city and a convenient place to stop and recover from jet lag before continuing travels further. London was our first city of five visited during our five weeks in England and we spent a little more than one week there exploring. Upon check in at our hotel, we were given a package that Megan and her team had assembled which was our very detailed roadmap for the entire visit, including all our train tickets and entrance tickets as needed. This road map also included some history of the city and a list of suggested places to dine. This truly simplified navigating new places and helped reduce stress levels of being in new places.

All I can say is Megan and her team rock! Thank you for an amazing five weeks in England.

Hotel Reviews
The Hoxton, Southwark
London

Hotel location is perfect. It is in a quiet neighborhood with many pub, restaurant and street food options. It is also very walkable to a couple of subway stations so if there is limited time available and / or no desire to walk, there are options. But also very walkable to almost all tourist items most of us have on our lists. Most important, the staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the hotel serves very good food as well as breakfast. And if weather permits, the rooftop bar / restaurant is fun and provides excellent views of the city. We will be return guests to this hotel on future trips involving time in London.

Authenticity & Character
Location
In the Southwark area so right off the Thames Promenade, easy access to the Shakespeare Theater and Tate Modern as well as Southwark Market.

We stayed at this exquisite hotel / guest house. We do not have a "rich uncle" but if we did, this felt like staying at our "rich uncles" house. It is a small , exquisite lake guest house where it feels like being in a house as all the common rooms are inviting and you want spend time in them when not out exploring as the views are stunning and the other guests interesting to meet and visit. We cannot say enough about the staff. Almost immediately they knew us by name and asked about our day, made recommendations, ensured we had everything we needed, assisted with transportation, you name it they did it. Perfect hosts!

Authenticity & Character
Location
The hotel sits just outside Windermere on top of a hill overlooking the lake. The grounds of the hotel are exquisite and if the weather cooperates, the patio invites just sitting and staring out at the beauty of the landscape. It is easy to escape reality at this hotel.

THE NICEST STAFF we've encountered. It was hard to say goodbye and leave our friends.

A Bookend Trip, We started our marriage with a trip that started in London 60years ago.
From the moment we started communicating with Megan we knew we were working with someone who would listen to our desires, wants and needs. She put together an amazing trip for us for our 60th wedding anniversary. We are seasoned travelers and know just how much can go off kilter. For our entire two weeks everything and everyone was on time and more than ready to provide top notch service. The staff at all four hotels - Lime Tree; Roseate in Bath; Lygon Arms in Broadway; Gilpin in Windermere; and finally Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh were very quick to recognize us and be very helpful.
Our Driver/Guides, Daniel (Bath walking tour), Alan Foster, Tony Gulliver and Nicky Godfrey-Evans all brought years of experience and knowledge to the task and adjusted quickly and easily to our limitations, my wife's walking ability had declined since we booked the trip. We particularly enjoyed pub lunches along the way at small out of the way pubs. We would happily tour again with any of them.

Hotel Reviews
Lygon Arms
Broadway

The building ranges from ancient to old to I have no idea. We stayed in the merely old - about 200 years old- section so the lack of a lift was to be expected. Our suite was large with plenty of storage. All the other aspects were up to date. Merely find ones way around was fun as we never knew what room we might find ourselves in, there was always staff to direct to where we needed to go. Step out of the front door onto the green with shops, restaurants and activities during the day. Dine in comfort in the main dining room or other spaces and enjoy breakfast in the dining room as well. We first visited 60 years ago and it took us a while to find our way back.

Authenticity & Character
The original structure dates back 600 years and the later addition was 200 years ago. There are sections built in the 1960s
Location
It is right in the middle of Broadway and and Stratford-Upon-Avon is close enough to enjoy dinner and a play
Staff
Always available and Gary seems to be everywhere one turns to carry to guide or just to chat.

The Roseate Villa
Bath

Situated on Henrietta Street not more than 5 minutes walk from the Pultney Bridge most of Bath seem easily reachable on foot from this delightful hotel. There is a fine park just across the street as well. Do be prepared to face hills in this part of England. Our room was spacious and everything worked as expected. We both slept well in the comfortable bed. If I were to return to Bath I would not hesitate to stay here. Do be aware that there are steps and no lift. There was always someone to help us with the luggage.

A small attentive staff made us feel very comfortable and welcome

London

This tiny hotel tucked into a corner is almost invisible from the street. Our room was just past the door from the reception which concerned us at first, but we never heard anything from that area. Everything about the hotel is small and especially the storage in our room was very limited and we travel light. We got to know the staff during our four night stay and they were most helpful with any request we made and often had suggestions before we asked. We had breakfast at the Buttery, which is part of the hotel, but not included in the rate. We slept well and were very comfortable.

Authenticity & Character
Location
If we were better at walking, the location was brilliant the Underground station at Sloan Square was 10 minutes walk and the Victoria Coaching station was around the corner. Even with our walking limitations we were able to wlak to lovely restaurants and to the Victoria Palace for a play.

Hotel du Vin & Bistro Edinburgh
Edinburgh

This is another "hidden" hotel. The entrance is set back from the street in a courtyard and cars must stop on the street to off load luggage and passengers. The ground floor included reception, an open courtyard, an enclosed lounge and a lovely restaurant. The lift brought us to our room on 3 (one of two rooms on 3) and there was plenty of storage and space. Between the room and the bathroom there was a room that might have been a sitting room but contained a lovely old Claw foot tub. My wife is vertically challenged and was unable to access the tub. I'm not sure I could have myself. The shower was the most spacious shower I can remember. There were plenty of electrical connections including USB to let us charge all our devices - having two hearing aid chargers ups the challenge in finding connections.

Authenticity & Character
The interior was far more modern than than the other hotels we had stayed in this trip. The building itself seems to fit into the neighborhood.
Location
Walking distance to Edinburgh Castle - if we could have managed the steps and many places along the Royal Mile.
Staff
The hotel staff were superb. The restaurant staff a bit less helpful. There was a timing issue that was not properly communicated.Aalthough we were satisfied eventually, they gave us a discount for the trouble- this was unasked by us.
Cleanliness & Comfort
We chose not to have the room made up for our second day since we were leaving the next day. Nonetheless fresh towels were provided.

The "tour" is mostly of the front of the house with an excellent presenter giving the History of the original theater and its any successors. We got to see back stage briefly since the house is not accessible and the only way to get to the upper balcony with a wheelchair was to use a property lift backstage.

We were taken backstage, literally on the stage behind the performance stage and toured all the means for staging two different shows in a day. We saw props and costumes and wigs shops and so much more. We were taken to a dance studio where the dancers were taking their regular classes as well as warming up for their performances. Then we went out into the house and were able to see the stage and the building from the audience perspective from an upper balcony. This was a very exciting tour for us.

Daniel met us at the hotel and provided more driving than walking since he appropriately judged that my wife would not do well with lots of walking on the hills. We learned a lot about Bath and the surrounding area and saw glorious views from highpoints and also got to see many places when we were walking in the town. We also learned of a connection between Bath and our hometown Rochester NY which has an adjacent suburb Henrietta which dates to 1808 and is named for Henrietta Pultney. Daniel noted that connection the moment I said we were from Rochester.
