Tarun Sharma

Hi everyone,

I am Tarun Sharma. I have been working with our family-based travel agency Adventure Holiday Tours since 2008 and its been wonderful to be able to show travelers around and make them fall in love with India and Slovenia, it's not difficult at all.

I lived and traveled throughout India until 2018 and then I moved to Slovenia for my lovely Slovenian wife. (We met on a yoga teacher training course in India and we are both also certified yoga teachers)

I love my job and working in a supportive family company helps us to provide each individual with a unique experience in India and Slovenia.

I aim to give everyone a unique experience in India and Slovenia through our local eyes.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"Private tours to the hidden and beautiful wonders of India and Slovenia."

How did you get involved in travel?

"I got into travel because of our family-based travel agency after I left my schooling in 2008. While I was showing people around India I got a chance to travel throughout and explore India after 2012 I got a travel bug and I visited Nepal, Turkey, New Zealand, Europe, and South east Asia and now living in Slovenia."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I wish there was only one. Each time I traveled abroad I stayed with friends and their families. This really made all my travel experiences really unique. "

Our trip was amazing. The sights were unexpected. The water reminded us of the Caribbean. There was always some sight to see. The Diocletian Palace and the Castle (Grad) of Dubrovnik were highlights, especially if you are a Game of Thrones fan. Plitvice Lakes is a must see. The weather didn't cooperate, but it didn't dampen the experience only our clothes. Spending time in Ljubljana was worthwhile. It is a small city but is worth at least two days to see the sites. It is also is a good jump off point for a trip. When you travel with Tarun, you are traveling with a movie star (check the opening scene of The Union). He is also on the Slovenian cricket team. So, you know he has stories to tell while you on the road between sites. He showed us the Logar Valley which was spectacular and wasn't on our radar as a place to see. I can recommend Tarun without reservation.

Although we were not originally planning to have a private guide, my husband and I decided to take a chance with Tarun and we were not disappointed. Tarun created a personalized itinerary prior to our arrival based on our interests, but was also flexible to make changes based on things that came up or that we decided that we wanted to see once we got there. He balanced our schedule with the primary tourist attraction but also afforded enough time and flexibility for us to explore at our own leisure. He went the extra mile to seek out experiences off the beaten path that only a local know. He was very friendly and personable and we often felt like we were travelling with an extra friend rather than a host. If you are looking for a turnkey experience, we definitely recommend Tarun and Holiday Adventure Tours for a personalized experience, no matter how long you plan to visit Slovenia, and we will be in touch with him when we book a trip to India in the future.

Tarun did an excellent job organising our transfers around Slovenia. Where he was not able to make it, he ensured that someone he trusted was there at the appointed time and knew exactly what they had to do. Tarun and the other people we met through Tarun were all very knowledgeable about Slovenia and, the places he booked for us, were amazing including Lepa Vida wines, our Soca River rafting experience and Broken Bones Distillery. He ensured we were at the appropriate places by the required time to make each of the tours and took us to some lovely out of the way places that as a tourist we would not have seen. He was an easy person to be around and had a great sense of fun and humour.

Tarun also ensured we got to do the things that I had found before engaging him and wanted to do like a day yacht trip from Izola south along the Slovenian coast to Croatia and back again on board, "Alice in Waterland". Damjan and Fredrica were the perfect hosts and couldn't do enough for us and our fussy group of eaters. I had also booked our accommodation all of which turned out to be fantastic.

I think the best thing about working with Tarun is he would have been happy to organise the whole trip for us or to work with me and fit in additional things around what I'd organised or wanted to do. He was very flexible.

Everyone we met in Slovenia were amazing. Kind, engaging and generous. The food in Slovenia is incredible. Beautiful fresh produce cooked to perfection. The water is very clean and the environment pristine. There are a number of fabulous walks, lakes and other adventures. I really thoroughly enjoyed our time in Slovenia and would go back again in a heartbeat and ask Tarun to help me organise the trip again.

Visiting Izola and Strunjan

We did a tour down the Slovenia coast past Piran and onto Croatia on "Alice in Waterland" a beautiful 51 foot yacht. The yacht owners, Damjan and Fredrica made sure our day was perfect with breakfast and coffee when we boarded the yacht and a swim stop in a sheltered cove just north of Piran followed by an amazing lunch, beautiful wines and gins. They made sure that the trip was perfect in every way.

Lepa Vida Boutique Winery. We loved our trip to this small winery. In addition to the wine tasting they created some amazing food to have with it and said, if they had of known in advance, they could have also catered to any allergies or intolerances. We tried each of their wines and loved them all. Walked away with 6 bottles of wine none of which made it home - they were too good. The winery owner was amazing, fantastic knowledge of wine, the winery's history and the local area. Couldn't recommend this winery too highly
