This was such a neat experience! First time staying in a place like this and it was great! Had everything needed.
Overview
Partially hidden under a canopy of indigenous trees in the southern stretches of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Umkumbe Bush Lodge gives guests daily opportunities for game viewing, with spontaneous safaris departing when animal activity is high. This lodge is the first "glamping" experience in the reserve, so you can feel like you're camping but still enjoy modern luxuries, like air-conditioning. The communal spaces are built seamlessly into the environment, with the main lodge area set around a large weeping boer-bean overlooking the bush. Here, you'll find various furnished spots to relax and observe the surrounding wildlife.
The property has just over 10 spacious, tented-style suites, each named after different indigenous trees in the region. All are air-conditioned and fully furnished, built on raised wooden decks with private verandas nestled in nature. Inside, you'll discover a warm interior with area rugs and sunlight streaming through the windows. The Luxury and Superior suites have soaking tubs, double sinks, and outdoor showers, allowing you to experience modern comforts while enjoying your time in nature. If you want a more upscale option, consider the Honeymoon Tented Suite, which includes a private pool.
Your stay includes two daily game drives where you'll enjoy a morning coffee pit stop and an afternoon safari sundowner with snacks. If you prefer to explore the bush on foot, enjoy a guided walk, where you'll learn about animal tracks, termite mounds, and other smaller animals you might overlook during a drive. While resting between safaris, you can enjoy additional amenities like a well-stocked bar at the main lodge, a large pool and sun lounge, wildlife lookout points, an open-air dining area, and a classic boma. When it's time to eat, the staff serves breakfast and lunch alfresco at the main lodge on private tables and hosts the evening dinner in the boma area around a central roaring fire.

If it weren’t for the staff I would rate the accommodations at a four, as we had a toilet that ran even after they tried to fix it. Lighting in the tent was poor and we never could regulate the shower temperature. However, the beds were very comfortable, linens... Read more
